About us

Situated near Central Park and Columbia University, the hostel is in a historic
Victorian Gothic-style building on Upper West Side. It organizes walking
tours,
sporting events, group outings to concerts and more. There is capacity for
624 guests, and facilities include internet access, kitchen, laundry and meals.

room to a quiet cup of coffee in our cafe, Hostelling International-NY has
everything you need to make your group happy. Play the latest games on
Play Station 2. Check your email without leaving the hostel. Wash and dry

MetroCards, sundries, NY souvenirs, calling cards, and more in our gift shop.
The hostel is located steps from the subways and minutes from Times Square

About Rooms

We offer clean, modern coed and separate male/female dormitory style
accommodation (four to twelve-bedded rooms) with shared bathrooms in the
hallways. Linens, towels, and a housekeeping service are provided free of
charge. Private rooms with and without baths are available for your
convenience.

Membership

Hostelling International USA is a membership organization.
While purchasing a membership is recommended, it is not required: all non-
members will be subject to a small fee.

[From JFK Airport ]

- Taxi :
Take a cab to 891 Amsterdam Avenue. Price is flat rate $45 plus tolls. Taxis
are available 24hrs. The travel time is approximately 40-60 minutes, longer
for peak hours.

- AirTrain and Subway :
The new AirTrain JFK links the region??s rail and subway transportation
network to NYC. Take the AirTrain from Jamaica Station, transfer to the
MTA??s ??E?? towards Manhattan to 42nd Times Square and transfer to the
1 or
9 going uptown. Get off at 103rd Street and walk one block east. Hostelling
International is on the corner of 103rd Street and Amsterdam Avenue. The
prices are $5.00(AirTrain) and $2.00(subway). The frequency of AirTrain is
20-30 minutes and 4-20 minutes for the subway. Allow 2 hours for the travel
time.

- Express Buses :
New York Airport Service Express Bus: Take t he bus to Port Authority,
transfer to the 1/9 going uptown. Get off at 103rd Street and walk on block
east. Hostelling International is on the corner of 103rd Street and
Amsterdam
Avenue. The cost is $13 for the bus and $2 for the train. The bus runs every
15-20 minutes. The travel time is around 45-65 minutes, longer during peak
hours.

- Grayline :
Take the bus to Port Authority (42 nd Street) and transfer to the 1/9 going
uptown. Get off at 103rd Street and walk on block east. Hostelling
International is on the corner of 103rd Street and Amsterdam Avenue. It will
cost you $12 for the Grayline and $2 for the subway (1/9). The bus runs
every 30-20 minutes. The approximately travel time is from 60-90mins,
longer at peak hours.

- TransBridge :
Take the bus to Port Authority transfer to the 1 or 9 heading uptown. Get
off
at 103rd Street and walk on block east. Hostelling International is on the
corner of 103rd Street and Amsterdam Avenue. The fee for the bus is $10.
They offer three trips daily; the times are 3:20PM, 5:20PM, and 6:50PM

- SuperShuttle Manhattan :
Take the shuttle to 891 Amsterdam Avenue. The price is $17-$19. The
shuttle runs on demand 24 hours by calling 1-800-258-3826.

[From La Guardia Airport]

- Taxi :
Take a cab to 891 Amsterdam Avenue. Prices are from $21-$30 plus tolls.
The taxis are available during flight hours at taxi stands located outside of
the terminal. The approximately travel time is between 30 to 40 minutes
longer on peak hours.

- Subway :
Take the Q33 bus that connects with the (7) subway train. Take the # 7
train
to Manhattan, 42 Times Square. At Times Square transfer to (1/9) uptown.
Get off at 103 rd Street. Broadway, walk one block east to 891 Amsterdam
Ave.

- Bus :
Take the M60 towards Manhattan; get off at 106 th Street and Amsterdam
Avenue. Walk south 3 blocks.

- Express Buses :
