Travel Insurance Policies |
Insurance while traveling abroad is one of the most important things you will need. It may seem like an expense that you may not be able to afford, but should. The saying goes if you have it you will not need it, but if you don't you will.
One of the most important things to do is look around for the best policy at the best price. Your travel agent may try to help with this, but you may want to consider checking elsewhere. Travel agents are offered commissions from insurance providers, and may not have your best interest in mind, as much as there own bank account.
To keep the costs of insurance down look into having multiple policies that may be cheaper then a policy that covers your whole trip may be a better option. Make sure that the policy/policies you purchases cover all of the things you will need (healthcare, accidental, theft, and death etc.) Make sure that anything you have planned on your trip will be covered by your policy. Glasses and contacts are often not covered by travel insurance so check to make sure, if you may need it.
Even normal activities on your trip may not be covered for example: riding a motorcycle, an unscheduled flight, and more. So check and make sure.
Calculate the value of all of your possessions, and how easily they can be replaced. Then make sure that the deductible is not worth more then possession you have lost. Cameras and other household possessions should be covered by your home insurance policy. Documents: Passport, Tickets, and other documents should be covered by your travel insurance.
Check to see how easy replacing lost or stolen tickets are with the vendor you choose. To avoid having to claim it with your insurance.
