Auberge du Balestie is ideally placed in the heart of the Cathare Country 4 kilometres from the medieval town of Mirepoix, just 35 kilometres from Carcassonne.

This peaceful, small hotel is owned and run by an English family who warmly welcome you to this peaceful corner of Ariege. Come and relax by Balestie Lake and admiring the magnificent view of the Pyrenees or taking advantage of the many outdoor activities available nearby.

The GR7 walking trail passes right alongside the Auberge du Balestie which is a variant of the Way of Saint James that leads to St Jean-de-Pied de Port. There are several other walking, mountain biking and horse riding trails around the hotel.

In the hotel restaurant we offer a full ' la carte' service and a range of menus of traditional, regional cuisine with prices from 16 to 30. Vegetarian and child menus are also available.

There are several comfortable rooms and guests may choose to have a room with shared or private bathroom facilities.

From Carcassonne take the D119 towards Mirepoix. We are located on the right hand side of the road, just after the picnic area of Malegoude, about 4 kms before Mirepoix.

30 minutes from Carcassonne Airport. There are no public transport services from Carcassonne, so it is essential to have a vehicle.
